Product lighting with fire as an emotional element.
In this assignment, the goal was to light a product while using fire as a tool to evoke a specific mood or feeling.
I found a grenade-shaped perfume bottle from Viktor and Rolf on Sketchfab, imported it into Blender, and began lighting the scene. It took quite a few light sources to bring out the highlights and properly define the shape.
Simulating fire in Blender was definitely a challenge, but through some trial and error (and a happy accident), I ended up creating a fairly abstract yet visually satisfying fireball. It added a contrasting harmony to the otherwise intense visual of the fire and the product.

Post production
With a bit of polygon tweaking, I made the parfume bottle appear to fall into the flames, and added some extra movement to it with a motion blur mask in Photoshop. Some more work in Photoshop to touch up weaknesses in both the fire simulation and the 3D model - resulting in a final image that I’m really proud of.
As a bit of a perfectionist, I loved going all-in on the post-production in Photoshop for this project. I think the difference between these before and after pictures is huge.
